Vendor FAQs

Do I need to be present in the store to sell my products?

No. Vendors are not required to be onsite during store hours. The market will be fully staffed during all open hours. Vendors are only responsible for restocking and maintaining their inventory.

When are you planning
to open?

Our current goal is to begin vendor load-in at the end of May, with a grand opening planned for June. We will share confirmed dates as build-out milestones are completed.

What does it cost to
become a vendor?

Our fee structure is simple: -Monthly shelf or space rental -10% administrative fee on sales -$5 monthly Software & supplies Shelf/space rent ranges from $45–$80 per month depending on size, location within the shop, and vendor type. Full fixture pricing available.

What is included in
the monthly fees?

Your rent and administrative fee include: -A staffed retail storefront during all open hours -Centralized checkout and shared POS system -Sales tracking, monthly reporting, and vendor payouts -Collection and remittance of applicable Florida sales tax -Credit card and bank processing -Utilities and climate-controlled space, housekeeping -General market promotion and inclusion in website and social media marketing -Security monitoring with camera surveillance Our goal is to provide an affordable, year-round retail presence without the overhead of operating your own storefront.

Five days per week: -Wednesday - Friday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM -Saturday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM -Sunday: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM Store hours may adjust based on traffic patterns and seasonal demand.

How are vendors accepted?

We are currently operating on a first-come, first-served basis. If a vendor meets the licensing and insurance requirements and appropriate space is available, they will be accepted into the market. Once available space is filled, we will transition to a waitlist.

Will you limit or restrict certain
types of vendors?

At this time, we are not implementing category exclusivity. Based on current vendors, the vendor mix is complementary and balanced. Our goal is to foster a collaborative, not competitive, environment. We will continue to be mindful of and evaluate vendor placements to maintain a healthy product mix and protect the overall market experience. It is important to note that this is intended to be a neighborhood grocery store and as such we must have enough vendors in each category to be able to provide a wide variety of product offerings with enough selection to satisfy the a wide range of shopper preferences.

How and when are vendors paid?

Vendors receive a detailed monthly sales report. The first month’s rent is due prior to move-in. After the first month, all fees will be deducted from your monthly sales payout. Remaining balances will be processed within the first five (5) days of each month. This structure simplifies accounting and eliminates the need for multiple monthly payments.

Is there an annual contract?

We do not currently require an annual contract. However, we do ask vendors to commit to an initial 3 or 6-month term to help ensure consistency within the market and create a stable shopping experience for customers.

Are cottage food vendors allowed?

Yes. We have submitted our business model to FDACS for review and received confirmation that our structure is compliant. Cottage food vendors must still meet all labeling and regulatory requirements under Florida law.

What insurance is required?

All vendors must maintain general and/or product liability insurance with a minimum coverage of $1,000,000. Vendors must provide a Certificate of Insurance listing The Makers Market & Farmacy as an Additional Insured prior to move-in.

What licenses are required?

Vendors must maintain all required licensing for their business type, which may include: -Polk County Business Tax Receipt -Appropriate FDACS or DBPR permits -Any additional required state or local approvals Vendors are responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

How will security be handled?

The store will have camera surveillance throughout the retail space. While we take reasonable precautions, vendors are responsible for carrying appropriate insurance for their products.
